Miller Milling to Expand Saginaw, TX Flour Mill

Project will increase capacity, position the facility to support the growing Texas market

Bloomington, MN – (October 27, 2016) – Miller Milling Company today announced it will expand its Saginaw, TX flour mill by more than 70 percent. The just-commenced project will include the construction of a new mill able to produce 10,000 cwt of flour per day along with necessary infrastructure for grain handling,  packaging,  storage  and  load-out  capabilities. The project also lays the  groundwork  to meet future flour demand  across the   region.

“This expansion will let us better serve our existing customers and attract new ones,” said Jeffrey Thomas, Miller Milling’s vice president of operations. “Texas is one of the fastest growing areas of the country and population growth means an increased demand for flour. Increasing production capacity close to customers, distributors and consumers is good for our customers.”

The project, which represents a substantial investment in the Texas market, will bring the total number of mills at the site to three and will increase the facility’s flour production capacity from its current level of 14,000 cwt per day to 24,000 cwt per day. The new mill will process local wheats and is expected to be completed by early 2019.

Thomas said the project also includes a doubling of Miller’s packaging capacity and warehouse space that will allow the company to grow with its existing customer base and to supply packaged flour to customers to meet customer’s demands for packaged flour.

Saginaw is located just north of Fort Worth, making the mill well-located to serve customers throughout Texas, particular in the “Texas Triangle” region of the state bounded by Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio and Houston.
